Abruzzo health plan reshuffle threatens community hospitals
Silvio Paolucci, the Democratic Party group leader in the Abruzzo regional council, criticised the Marsilio administration for revising the regional operational plan of the PNRR Health fund. He warned that moving interventions to other financing sources could jeopardise projects at the community hospitals in Pescina, Tagliacozzo and Montesilvano.
The revision also affects seven community houses in Pescara, Montesilvano, Tollo, Francavilla al Mare, Popoli, Pianella and Vibrata‑Nereto, limiting work in Pescara and Montesilvano to furnishings and equipment. Paolucci highlighted that the regional target of 10‑11 community hospitals, backed by an allocation of €21.8 million, is being altered: only one intervention would be shifted to the Aquilano‑Marsicano area, six to the Lanciano‑Vasto‑Chieti ASL, and the Montesilvano community hospital would be cut. He demanded a detailed, structure‑by‑structure explanation of the services, staffing and long‑term resources to avoid a purely formal update.
