Abruzzo ranks fourth in Italy for gambling addiction center accessibility

Abruzzo has ranked fourth in Italy for potential accessibility to centers treating gambling addiction (ludopathy). According to an analysis by Oltre il Gioco, the region has nine registered centers, providing one center for every 140,802 residents. This figure outperforms the national average, which stands at one center per 244,576 inhabitants.

The analysis focuses strictly on the availability of facilities relative to the population and does not assess clinical quality, staff expertise, or waiting times. In contrast, regions such as Calabria, Campania, Sicily, Sardinia, and Trentino-Alto Adige show significantly lower accessibility levels.

Separately, regional authorities in Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna are monitoring the effects of their respective gambling regulations. In Abruzzo, parliamentary reports reference previous evaluative missions regarding laws designed to prevent the spread of gambling addiction. In Emilia-Romagna, regional working groups are conducting technical evaluations and monitoring the application of laws aimed at preventing and reducing the risks of pathological gambling.
