Italy gambling disorder center accessibility

An analysis by the independent project Oltre il Gioco has mapped the accessibility of gambling disorder rehabilitation centers across Italy, measuring the ratio of registered centers to the resident population.

Initial findings indicated that Lombardia ranked 10th in the country, with one center for every 234,086 people, performing better than the national average of one center per 244,576 residents. The study highlighted significant disparities, noting that Calabria faced the most difficult access with only one center for every 1,827,571 residents. Other regions with low accessibility included Campania, Sicilia, Sardegna, and Trentino-Alto Adige.

Subsequent data revealed that Abruzzo ranked fourth in Italy for accessibility, with nine registered centers serving one resident for every 140,802 people. Alongside these accessibility metrics, regional authorities in Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna are monitoring the impact of gambling regulations and conducting technical evaluations of laws designed to prevent and reduce the risks of pathological gambling.
