Abu Dhabi expands preventive healthcare and senior wellness initiatives

Abu Dhabi is expanding its integrated healthcare ecosystem through new initiatives focused on preventive care and family wellness. PureHealth and the Family Development Foundation have launched the ‘Healthy Horizons’ program, an outreach initiative specifically designed for Emirati senior citizens. The program provides specialist-led workshops, free preventive screenings, and guided physical activities to support healthy aging and early risk detection.

To support digital health inclusion, the initiative utilizes the Pura AI-powered health app to help seniors access services. Key focus areas include geriatric medicine, chronic disease management, mental wellbeing, and vision health.

Complementing these efforts, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health is implementing an integrated model across more than 3,800 facilities. This system emphasizes proactive healthcare, innovation, and preparedness. The strategy covers the entire life cycle, from premarital genetic testing to specialized care in fields such as cardiac surgery and multi-organ transplantation. As part of the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026, the emirate is also developing a specialized city dedicated to women’s and children’s health.
