Abu Dhabi healthcare system expansion
Overview
Abu Dhabi is expanding its integrated healthcare ecosystem through new initiatives focused on preventive care and family wellness. PureHealth and the Family Development Foundation have launched the ‘Healthy Horizons’ program, an outreach initiative designed for Emirati senior citizens. This program provides specialist-led workshops, free preventive screenings, and guided physical activities to support healthy aging.
To support digital health inclusion, the initiative utilizes the Pura AI-powered health app. Complementing these efforts, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health is implementing an integrated model across more than 3,800 facilities. This strategy emphasizes proactive healthcare and covers the entire life cycle, including premarital genetic testing and specialized care in fields such as cardiac surgery and multi-organ transplantation. Additionally, as part of the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026, the emirate is developing a specialized city dedicated to women’s and children’s health.
