Abu Dhabi launches cooled indoor fitness hubs and park walkways to beat summer heat
Abu Dhabi is expanding indoor wellness options to help residents stay active despite soaring summer temperatures. New initiatives include free “Get Active” fitness sessions at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, an air‑conditioned 660‑metre running and walking track at Khalidiyah Park, and an indoor walking club at Yas Mall. The city also offers a growing roster of indoor Pilates, yoga, padel, tennis and football venues, giving locals and visitors climate‑controlled alternatives for exercise.
The emirate’s park network is being retrofitted with cooled walkways that maintain a constant 24 °C. Khalidiyah Park now features a 660‑metre enclosed corridor, while the newly opened King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Park in Al Mushrif includes a 700‑metre cooled path amid more than 1,100 Ghaf trees and various fitness zones. A pilot 70‑metre cooled outdoor corridor in Al Mamoura, opened in late 2024, served as a test bed for the larger projects. These developments provide shaded, climate‑controlled routes for outdoor walking and recreation throughout the year.
