Delhi University Students’ Union election candidates announced

Candidates for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections have been finalized following the conclusion of the nomination scrutiny process. The upcoming election, scheduled for September 18, features a primary contest between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

For the ABVP, Yash Dabas is contesting the presidency, with Ishu Maurya for vice president, Riya Chhawadi for secretary, and Lakshyaraj Singh for joint secretary. The NSUI has announced Vijay Shankar Meena for president, Veer Chhatrath for vice president, Namrata Chaudhary for secretary, and Gopal Chaudhary for joint secretary.

Approximately 2.75 lakh students are eligible to vote. The election cycle follows recent student unrest regarding exam irregularities and housing shortages, specifically concerning the safety and availability of hostels and PG accommodations in areas like Satya Niketan.
