DUSU elections: ABVP and NSUI announce candidates for 2026 polls

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections for the 2026–27 term have entered a decisive phase following the closure of the nomination withdrawal window. The contest features major student organizations, most notably the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

For the presidency, ABVP has fielded Yash Dabas, while the NSUI has nominated Vijay Shankar Meena, an activist from the tribal community. The ABVP panel includes Ishu Maurya for Vice-President, Riya Chhawadi for Secretary, and Lakshyaraj Singh for Joint Secretary. The NSUI panel consists of Veer Chhatrath for Vice-President, Namrata Choudhary for Secretary, and Gopal Choudhary for Joint Secretary.

Other participating groups include the AISA-SFI alliance, which has nominated Ananya Raturi for president, and the Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), the student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party. The elections follow recent campus unrest regarding exam irregularities and student housing safety. Voting is scheduled for September 18, with results expected on September 19. Approximately 2.75 lakh students are eligible to vote.
