Abyan health organizations coordinate urgent cholera response

Health organizations and local authorities have agreed on urgent interventions to combat the spread of cholera and diarrheal diseases in displaced persons camps in Abyan, Yemen. Following reports of infections and a fatality, an emergency meeting was held in Aden involving more than 15 health organizations, including Doctors Without Borders.

The agreed-upon measures include providing essential medicines, supporting health facilities, and conducting direct interventions in camps where cases have been recorded. Local authorities in Abyan have also directed the construction of a new facility at the local government's expense and emphasized the need for increased field presence and coordination with international organizations to prevent further outbreaks.
