Mexico SEP announces 2026-2027 school calendar and updates

Mexico's Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) has released the official calendar for the 2026-2027 school year, which begins on August 31, 2026, and concludes on July 9, 2027. The schedule includes 185 school days and outlines various holidays and Technical School Council (CTE) sessions where students will not have regular classes.

In preparation for the new term, the SEP has also published suggested school supply lists for 5th and 6th-grade primary students to assist families with budgeting.

Regarding institutional updates, the SEP in Puebla has temporarily suspended primary education services at the Academia Militarizada Ignacio Zaragoza due to administrative irregularities and safety concerns. The institution has until August 31 to address these observations to potentially resume classes. Additionally, the SEP has met with Cuban educational authorities to strengthen bilateral cooperation, aiming to increase the exchange of teachers, researchers, and students between the two nations.
