Academic institutions host symposium and innovation congress in South America
The Universidad Nacional de Itapúa (UNI) hosted an international symposium titled ‘Encarnación: 100 years of the Cyclone, a history of Cooperation and Restoration’ on September 2, 2026. The event brought together researchers and authorities from Paraguay and Argentina to reflect on the centennial of the 1926 cyclone. Discussions focused on social resilience, community reconstruction, and transborder cooperation during climate catastrophes.
In Argentina, the II National Congress of University Innovation convened in Bariloche. The Rector of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario and president of the Consejo Interuniversitario Nacional (CIN) called for a second university reform. He described this as an ‘academic, pedagogical, and curricular revolution’ aimed at redesigning study plans and teaching methods to address current systemic challenges facing the public university system.
