Academic institutions in Chile and Paraguay advance innovation initiatives
Academic institutions in Chile and Paraguay are advancing technological innovation through new collaborative initiatives.
The Technological Faculty of the University of Santiago de Chile (Usach) has launched a participatory process to design its FACTEC Innovation Hub. Supported by the Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DINEM), the project involves faculty heads, department directors, staff, and students to identify challenges and opportunities for the new academic collaboration space. Dean Sebastián Aguirre Boza stated that the goal is to strengthen innovation capacities by involving the community from the design stage.
In Paraguay, the Universidad Católica held the INNOTEC 2026 congress, which gathered over 800 participants. The event focused on technology, engineering, architecture, and design, featuring workshops and debates on artificial intelligence, robotics, and sustainability. The program included a hackathon designed to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and creative problem-solving among students.
