Academic research and doctoral scholarship opportunities announced in Argentina and Chile

Academic institutions in Argentina and Chile have announced new funding and scholarship opportunities to support scientific research and advanced education.

In Argentina, the FAPyD, as part of the UNR Science, Technology, and Arts Strengthening Program, has opened a call for directors of ongoing research projects to apply for specific financing. The program aims to advance established work plans, promote the dissemination of scientific results, and support training and public communication of science. A total of $14,000,000 is available, to be divided equally among the successful proposals. The application deadline is August 30, 2026.

In Chile, the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) and the Fulbright Commission have launched the Fulbright-ANID BIO Doctoral Scholarship program. This initiative allows Chilean citizens with limited English proficiency to pursue doctoral studies at prestigious universities in the United States. The program includes a one-year English leveling course and specifically targets individuals from backgrounds with limited access to higher education, such as those from state-subsidized schools or those with specific economic profiles. To date, the program has benefited 179 people.
