Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic opens new science trail

The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic has opened a new interactive science trail in the Ládví and Kobylisy areas of Prague. The project, initiated by seven research institutes, aims to create an “open-air science center” to promote scientific literacy and interest in research among children, students, and the general public.

The trail features eight stops with interactive exhibits designed to demonstrate various scientific phenomena. Key displays include a flywheel to demonstrate inertia, a spectrometer to show light decomposition, an atomic model to illustrate scale, and a sculpture representing binary perspectives. Participating institutes include the Institute of Physics, the Heyrovský Institute, the Institute of Photonics and Electronics, the Institute of Plasma Physics, the Institute of Informatics, the Institute of Information Theory and Automation, and the Institute of Thermomechanics.

Michael Prouza, Director of the Institute of Physics, noted that the project goes beyond simple information panels by offering remarkable experiments that allow the public to gain deeper insight into the world of science.
