Acamaya named best Mexican restaurant in the US

Acamaya, a restaurant located in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans, has been named the best Mexican restaurant in the United States by The New York Times. The publication highlighted the establishment for its “innovative approach to modern Mexican seafood.”

Chef Ana Castro and her brother Eduardo Castro lead the kitchen, blending traditional Mexican coastal flavors with seafood from the Gulf. In addition to this recognition, Acamaya has been featured as one of the Best New Restaurants in America by both Esquire and Bon Appétit, and has earned a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand distinction.

This recognition comes as Louisiana continues to gain attention for its culinary scene. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser noted the importance of food tourism to the state's economy, stating that people travel extensively to experience the region's unique cuisine.
