ACB launches cross-border QR payment for international tourists in Vietnam

ACB has introduced a cross-border QR payment solution designed to help businesses and individual merchants in Vietnam capture more revenue from international tourists. The initiative comes as Vietnam welcomed approximately 15.9 million international visitors during the first eight months of 2026, with China and South Korea remaining key markets, accounting for nearly 40% of total arrivals.

The solution allows merchants to accept payments from both domestic and international customers using a single QR code. It integrates various popular Asian payment networks, including Alipay+, WeChat Pay (Tenpay), UnionPay, GLN QR, NETS, and ITMX. This connectivity spans several countries, including China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.

By providing these digital payment options, businesses in the tourism, service, and retail sectors can better accommodate travelers who prefer mobile applications over cash or traditional POS terminals. Merchants have reported that these additional payment methods improve the shopping experience and prevent lost sales when tourists lack sufficient cash.
