ACB cross-border QR payment implementation

Overview

Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) has introduced a cross-border QR payment solution to facilitate transactions for individual travelers and businesses in Vietnam.

The system allows individual customers to use the ACB ONE app to scan codes in China, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, with funds deducted from VND accounts and converted to local currencies. For merchants, the solution enables the acceptance of payments from international tourists via a single QR code. The system integrates major networks such as Alipay+, WeChat Pay (Tenpay), UnionPay, GLN QR, NETS, and ITMX.

The initiative aims to help the tourism, service, and retail sectors capture more revenue from international visitors, particularly from key markets like China and South Korea. By providing digital options, the bank seeks to accommodate travelers who prefer mobile applications over cash or traditional POS terminals, helping to prevent lost sales due to insufficient cash.
