Setembro Amarelo campaign concludes in Brazil with focus on year-round mental health
The Setembro Amarelo campaign in Brazil has concluded its 2026 edition, marking 13 years of national action organized by the Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria (ABP) and the Conselho Federal de Medicina (CFM). The initiative focuses on suicide prevention and combating stigma, addressing a public health emergency that affects approximately 14,000 people annually in Brazil.
Key activities included public hearings at the Senate and the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais, as well as symbolic lighting of major monuments like Christ the Redeemer and the National Congress. Experts emphasized the need for continuous mental health support rather than seasonal awareness.
In the corporate and educational sectors, various initiatives were highlighted. MobiBrasil hosted discussions on psychosocial risks for transport workers, while schools like Escola Municipal Tomaz Ghirardelli used theater and workshops to engage students in mental health dialogue. Additionally, organizations like Cabergs and BeneMed advocated for year-round professional guidance and digital access to psychological care to reduce delays in seeking help.
