Accra to host major West African tax and energy policy dialogues

The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) will hold its 8th High-Level Policy Dialogue and 23rd General Assembly in Accra, Ghana, from September 15 to 19, 2026. Hosted by the Ghana Revenue Authority, the event marks WATAF’s 15th anniversary and aims to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation and build resilient tax administrations across West Africa.

Key discussion topics include digital transformation, taxpayer compliance, environmental fiscal policy, and emerging international tax reforms. The assembly will also include a roundtable for development partners and donors to support regional tax administration reforms.

Additionally, the Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) will participate in the Future of Energy Conference (FEC) in Accra on August 25–26, 2026. TJNA will lead a session focused on financing Africa’s green industrialisation, examining how the continent can fund energy infrastructure while maintaining fiscal space through domestic resource mobilisation and fair taxation.
