Chubut announces infrastructure and fishery investments
The Chubut provincial government is advancing several infrastructure and economic initiatives. Governor Ignacio Torres announced significant investments for Comodoro Rivadavia, including coastal defense works on National Route 3 and a 3 billion peso project for the Kilómetro 5 area to protect homes from sea erosion. Additionally, energy sector investments are projected to reach US$1 billion over the next 18 to 24 months.
In the fishing sector, the company Achernar, part of the Iceland Seafood group, confirmed a US$6.5 million investment to establish a value-added product processing line in Puerto Madryn. This follows the province's participation in the Conxemar 2026 fair in Spain.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Comodoro Rivadavia has filed a formal complaint with the national regulator regarding gas transport costs, noting that residents in the Chubut Sur zone are paying significantly higher rates than neighboring regions.
On a cultural note, the town of 28 de Julio is hosting the third edition of the Fiesta del Novillito on October 10 and 11, featuring local producers, artisans, and musical performances including the group La T y La M.
