Acre candidate Thor Dantas blames Bolsonaro’s pandemic handling, engages cultural sector
Pre‑candidate for the Acre governorship, Dr. Thor Dantas (PSB) said the former president’s management of the Covid‑19 crisis was a key factor in Bolsonaro’s electoral defeat, noting that Brazil accounted for about 12 % of global Covid deaths while representing only 3.5 % of the world population. He told the Bar do Vaz program that “the way the pandemic was conducted defeated the government Bolsonaro” and that the public still remembers the hardships.
Dantas also met with a wide range of cultural workers – artists, producers, dancers, musicians and visual creators – to discuss the sector’s challenges. The participants urged recognition of cultural work as a profession with decent pay and called for stronger public funding, decentralised policies and support for cultural identity in Acre. Dantas emphasized that listening to creators is essential for building policies that promote identity, opportunity and development in the state.
