Acre candidate Tião Bocalom slams poll, proposes spending cuts

Former Rio Branco mayor Tião Bocalom, a pre‑candidate for the Acre governorship, reacted to a Real Time Big Data poll that placed him third with 18% support, far behind Senator Alan Rick (39%) and Governor Mailza Assis (26%). In a social‑media video he called the survey “laughable” and “lies”, insisting that street contact with voters, not polls, is the true measure of popularity.

In a later radio interview Bocalom outlined his campaign platform, promising a comprehensive audit of state finances to “close the taps” on wasteful spending. He pledged to strengthen ties with municipalities, improve health services through more humane care, and boost education by expanding technology, school uniforms and teacher incentives. He argued that controlling the budget will free resources for these priority areas.
