Acre coffee competition enters technical sensory evaluation phase

The 4th edition of the Acre Coffee Quality Competition (QualiCafé) has entered its technical evaluation phase in Rio Branco. The process involves 55 producers from 12 municipalities across the state competing for recognition of the best coffees produced in the region.

The evaluation begins with a roasting stage to prepare samples, followed by sensory analysis to assess attributes such as body, aroma, acidity, balance, and flavor. Certified Q Graders, including Tassio da Silva de Souza, Marcelo Santos Lopes, and Milena do Nascimento Schuster, are conducting the assessments. Experts noted the high quality of the Acrean coffee, highlighting the producers' use of advanced field techniques to produce unique cups that represent Brazilian coffee culture.

This technical stage is crucial for ranking the coffees and will eventually define the finalists for the competition.
