Brazil launches national training for 7,500 agents to combat violence against women

Brazil is implementing widespread measures to combat violence against women and children. A major national initiative, the ‘Dia C de Capacitação’, is training approximately 7,500 security agents across 110 locations, including 27 state capitals and numerous municipalities. The training focuses on gender perspective, specialized assistance, and preventing re-victimization for police, firefighters, and municipal guards.

In tandem with these training efforts, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Women signed new ordinances to regulate state combat plans and create a National Service Protocol to standardize the treatment of sexual violence victims in police stations. Regional efforts include the installation of the ‘Sala Lilás’ in Três Lagoas to provide secure, private spaces for women facing domestic violence, and a cooperation agreement between the Public Ministries of Maranhão and Piauí to share the ‘PRO MULHER’ system for tracking protection cases.

Additionally, law enforcement is conducting large-scale operations, such as ‘Operação Mulher Segura 2026’ in Tocantins, which resulted in 147 arrests, and ‘Operação Nacional Proteção Integral V’, a nationwide crackdown on the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents involving the Federal Police and state agencies.
