Acre reports 72 murders and 163 attempted killings in H1 2026

The state of Acre recorded 72 homicides and 163 attempts at homicide between January and June 2026, totaling 235 violent incidents. Compared with the same period in 2025, the number of murders fell 6.5% (from 77 to 72) while attempts rose 11.6% (from 146 to 163). In June alone, ten murders were logged – the same count as May – and 34 attempts, a 61.9% increase over June 2025. Rio Branco accounted for six of the ten June murders (60% of the state total) and led the number of attempts with 14 cases. In June, firearms were used in seven murders; the other three involved a bladed weapon or an unidentified instrument. All victims were men; nine were brown and one black, with the 18‑24 age group most affected (three victims). The report also listed the municipalities where homicides occurred.
