Overview

In early July 2026 a study by Instituto Sou da Paz evaluated homicide‑case clearance rates for 2020‑2023. Paraná led with a 72 % clearance rate; Acre lagged at 47 %, the 11th‑highest nationally. The report linked higher clearance to firearm seizures and coordinated investigations.

A week later Acre’s public‑security agency released half‑year 2026 figures: 72 homicides and 163 attempted killings from January to June, a 6.5 % drop in murders but an 11.6 % rise in attempts compared with the same period in 2025. Most incidents occurred in Rio Branco and involved firearms.

In late July, Amazonas announced a 32.5 % reduction in intentional violent deaths in 2025, falling to 799—the lowest ever recorded—and a 31.7 % decline in femicide. The state credited integrated policing, intelligence and technology. The neighbouring state of Acre disclosed a R$1.02 billion security budget for 2025, part of a national record spending of R$163.1 billion. Analysts caution that higher outlays do not automatically translate into greater effectiveness against organized crime. Together, the data illustrate varied regional dynamics: strong clearance performance in some states, sharp crime declines in Amazonas, and continued investment challenges in Acre.
