Acre sees record low forest fire spots and ranks among Brazil's lowest virtual scam rates

The Brazilian state of Acre reported a 65% drop in forest fire detections for July 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, with 97 fire spots recorded from January to July and 56 in July alone. This July total is the lowest since 2001, when only three spots were logged. The municipality of Feijó accounted for the highest share of July fires (23.7%). Other municipalities with notable counts included Rodrigues Alves, Tarauacá and Cruzeiro do Sul.

In the same period, Acre also posted the sixth‑lowest rate of electronic fraud in Brazil in 2025, with 68.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and a total of 605 reported scams. Nationally, Brazil recorded over 2.2 million e‑scam cases in 2025, but only about 63 000 resulted in criminal proceedings and fewer than 5 000 people were imprisoned for such offenses.
