Bobb’e J. Thompson sentenced to 30 months in federal prison

Bobb’e J. Thompson, an actor known for his childhood role on Disney Channel’s ‘That’s So Raven’, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City, Iowa, following Thompson’s guilty plea to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The legal proceedings stem from a September 22, 2025, traffic stop in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Law enforcement observed Thompson driving 104 mph in a 70-mph zone. During the stop, officers noted the smell of marijuana and observed Thompson and a passenger attempting to switch seats. A search of a backpack belonging to Thompson revealed several bags of marijuana and a loaded .40-caliber handgun. The firearm had been reported stolen from a vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri.

Thompson, 30, has a prior criminal history that includes a 2020 conviction for battery causing serious bodily injury and a 2022 conviction for prohibited firearm possession. Following his prison term, he is required to serve three years of supervised release. As there is no parole in the federal system, he remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending transfer to a federal facility.
