Actors Guild of Nigeria Secures Legislative Support and Announces Africa's First Children’s Film Festival

Hon. Gabriel Saleh Zoch, chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, pledged legislative backing for the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). The support includes standard contractual frameworks, improved welfare and protection for actors, and capacity‑building programmes to enhance the Nigerian film industry's global competitiveness. Zoch also received a Certificate of Nomination as AGN’s National Patron.

AGN President Alhaji Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu unveiled plans for the maiden African Children’s Film Festival 2026, calling on governments, corporations, development partners and NGOs for sponsorship. The festival aims to provide a safe platform for children aged 5‑18 across Africa to develop filmmaking skills, promote authentic African culture, and use film for education and social development rather than profit.
