Acura unveils new SUV and hybrid roadmap through 2030
Acura has presented new product plans to dealers aimed at expanding its premium SUV lineup and increasing hybrid technology adoption in the United States. The strategy focuses on several key developments intended to drive sales toward a 2030 goal.
A major addition to the lineup will be a large three-row SUV positioned above the current MDX. This new model is expected to be approximately 152mm (six inches) longer than the MDX and will share a platform with the upcoming Honda Pilot XXL. Acura intends to position this vehicle against competitors like the Lexus TX. Additionally, the brand is developing an adventure-oriented SUV that will utilize the Honda Passport TrailSport chassis but feature unique Acura styling.
Technological advancements are centered on a next-generation RDX featuring a new hybrid architecture. This system aims to improve fuel efficiency by 10% while reducing production costs by 30%. The RDX will also introduce a new design language characterized by A-shaped LED taillights. Looking further ahead, a successor to the MDX is in development, with a potential market launch expected in 2029 or later.
