Adam Fantilli misses Blue Jackets training camp amid contract dispute

Adam Fantilli, the restricted free agent center and projected No. 1 center for the Columbus Blue Jackets, did not attend the opening day of training camp on Wednesday due to an ongoing contract dispute.

Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell stated that the team intends to send a proposal to Fantilli’s agent, Pat Brisson, within 24 hours to keep negotiations moving. While progress has been slow, Waddell noted that the team and the player have been in regular communication.

Head coach Rick Bowness expressed confidence in the player, noting that Fantilli had a positive conversation with him and remains mentally and physically prepared for the season. The Blue Jackets are scheduled to begin their season on October 1 against the Buffalo Sabres.
