Adamawa Court sentences three to death for kidnapping Catholic priests
A High Court in Adamawa State has sentenced three individuals to death for their involvement in the kidnapping of two Catholic priests, Reverend Fathers Matthew Dutsemi and Abraham Sauman, in February 2025.
Justice Christopher Mapeo found Taledo Demiel, Namomai Medan, and Mikaila Yusuf guilty of several offenses, including criminal conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery, harboring a kidnapped person, and negotiating ransom. This ruling marks the seventh death sentence secured by the DSS this year following various high-profile convictions for kidnapping, terrorism, and massacres across different Nigerian states.
