Adamuz accident investigator alleges technical report tampering
An investigator involved in the Adamuz railway accident, which resulted in 46 deaths, has denounced a lack of transparency and independence during the investigation process. Speaking at the Spanish Congress, Isabel López López, a member of the Railway Accident Investigation Commission (CIAF), claimed that technical reports are often modified when they reach “higher instances.”
López called for the full respect of investigators' technical criteria to ensure their work remains independent and not at the service of any specific entity. The investigation is currently being conducted by the CIAF while the country awaits the establishment of a new unified body to handle train, maritime, and aviation accident investigations.
Mario Semper, president of the Adamuz victims' association, noted that a meeting of various transport accident victim associations was held to share experiences and identify necessary corrections within central administrations.
