Adana bus crash leaves seven injured after driver fell asleep

A 27‑year‑old bus driver in Adana, Turkey, fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle slammed into the protective wall of a local police training school. The collision injured seven passengers, most with light to moderate wounds, who were taken to nearby hospitals.

Police detained the driver and seized the bus’s onboard camera footage, which clearly shows the driver nodding off seconds before impact. He is undergoing toxicology tests. The accident has sparked a public debate on driver fatigue and working conditions in Turkey’s transport sector, with unions demanding stricter rest‑time rules and experts calling for mandatory fatigue‑detection systems in commercial vehicles.
