Adana forest fires cause widespread destruction and displacement

A recent forest fire in the Adana province of Turkey, specifically affecting the Kozan, Aladağ, and İmamoğlu districts, has caused significant destruction. The blaze, which was brought under control after three days, damaged approximately 2,000 hectares of land and led to the evacuation of 835 people from 285 households.

Local residents have suffered heavy losses. In Kozan, an elderly couple lost their wooden home and livestock after being hospitalized for a medical emergency during the fire. In the Aladağ district, specifically in Dailer village, at least 16 homes were reported damaged. Victims expressed frustration over the perceived inadequacy of the state response, with some residents claiming they were left without sufficient water or immediate aid.

Political representatives from the YENİ Party visited the affected areas to assess the situation. They emphasized the urgent need for daily necessities and aid for residents before formal damage assessments are completed, noting that many have lost not only their homes but also essential crops like wheat and barley, as well as animal feed.
