Adani advances Gujarat's Khavda renewable hub with HVDC link approval and new solar capacity

India’s Central Electricity Regulatory Commission approved an inter‑state transmission licence for KPS III HVDC Transmission Ltd, a special‑purpose vehicle owned by Adani Energy Solutions. The licence enables construction of a 2.5 GW, ±500 kV HVDC link between Khavda and South Olpad in Gujarat, part of a broader plan to evacuate roughly 30.5 GW of renewable power from the Khavda Renewable Energy Park. The project is slated for commissioning within 48 months, with commercial operation expected by 12 December 2029.

Separately, Adani Green Energy commissioned a 150 MW solar plant at the same Khavda complex, contributing to the park’s goal of reaching 30 GW of capacity by 2029. Both developments support India’s target of 500 GW of non‑fossil generation by 2030 and enhance grid stability through advanced HVDC technologies such as power reversal, black‑start capability and dynamic reactive support.
