ADEEDY announces work stoppage and protests in Greece

The ADEEDY labor union has announced a work stoppage in Attica on Wednesday, September 16, from 12:00 until the end of the shift. This action coincides with the second parliamentary vote regarding the proposed constitutional revision.

Following the strike, a mass gathering is scheduled for 13:00 at Syntagma Square. The union's decision follows recent statements by the Prime Minister at the Thessaloniki International Fair, which ADEEDY claims fail to address the legitimate demands of public sector employees for dignified wages.

ADEEDY is protesting several key issues, including the proposed constitutional amendments to Articles 16, 79, and 103. The union argues these changes could lead to the commercialization of education, the constitutionalization of fiscal restrictions affecting pensions and social benefits, and the potential removal of permanent employment status for civil servants.

Further planned actions include a meeting of federations on September 17, a gathering on September 18 to mark the anniversary of Pavlos Fyssas's death, and a nationwide day of action on October 1.
