ADEDY calls for nationwide Greek public sector mobilizations on October 1st

The Greek Public Sector Employees' Confederation (ADEDY) has called for nationwide mobilizations on October 1st, designated as a Panhellenic Day of Action. The movement targets employees in the public sector, local government organizations (OTA), schools, and hospitals.

Key demands include substantial wage increases, the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th month salaries, and the abolition of the solidarity contribution. The union is also seeking measures to combat the rising cost of living and the strengthening of public health and education systems.

Beyond economic issues, ADEDY is protesting against changes to the disciplinary framework and the removal of job tenure (permanency) within the public sector. This follows a recent ruling by the Council of State, which determined that the non-reinstatement of holiday and leave bonuses does not violate the Greek Constitution or European Union law.

ADEDY has instructed its member federations and regional branches to organize various forms of protest, including workplace gatherings, rallies, and occupations. Additionally, the union has announced its Annual Panhellenic Conference to be held in Ioannina on November 8-9, 2026.
