ADEDY supports school cleaners in Aktio-Vonitsa protesting job transfers

The ADEDY Aetoloakarnania regional branch has expressed support for the Association of Municipality Employees of Aktio-Vonitsa and local school cleaners protesting sudden job transfers. The union is challenging a decision by the Mayor of Aktio-Vonitsa that relocated workers to school units located dozens of kilometers away from their residences.

Critics argue that these transfers disrupt stable working environments established over 10 to 20 years and impose a heavy financial burden on employees. Many of the affected workers earn monthly wages that do not exceed 400 euros, making the cost of long daily commutes unsustainable.

While the Mayor recently modified the decision to reinstate three workers to their previous positions, ADEDY maintains that this is insufficient. The union is calling on the municipal authorities to conduct a comprehensive review of all placements using objective, transparent, and socially fair criteria to prevent further economic hardship for the staff.
