Adelaide couple charged after infant found dead in motel

A 40-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman have been charged with criminal neglect and concealing human remains following the discovery of a deceased infant at the Tollgate Hotel in Adelaide.

Emergency services arrived at the Glen Osmond motel on Saturday morning for a welfare check, where they found the body of a baby boy estimated to be six to seven months old. Investigators believe the infant may have been deceased for up to a month. The couple, who had been residing at the motel since arriving in South Australia earlier this year, appeared before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday and were remanded in custody until May.

The Major Crime Investigation Branch is leading the inquiry. Police Commissioner Grant Stevens confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been completed, though the specific circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
