Adelaide emerges as top fast‑growing business travel hub

Adelaide was named one of the world’s three fastest‑growing international business‑travel destinations in the American Express Trendex: Business Travel Edition, joining Hyderabad and Manchester. The report, based on commercial airline transactions from 2024‑2025, highlighted the city’s surge in corporate travel spending, major events and AI‑focused innovation precincts.

Key aviation developments include United Airlines’ inaugural direct San Francisco‑Adelaide service launched in December 2025, the first nonstop link between the United States and South Australia, which helped Adelaide Airport record its busiest year. Singapore Airlines expanded to 12 weekly flights, adding 1,328 seats and supporting a $39.8 million export market, while China Southern announced daily Adelaide‑Guangzhou flights from December 2026 to March 2027, boosted by Australia’s 30‑day visa‑free policy for Chinese visitors. Minister for Tourism Emily Bourke said the recognition and new routes will generate broad economic benefits beyond events, from hospitality to local transport.
