Adelaide police investigate infant death at Glen Osmond motel

Police investigators have returned to the Tollgate Motel in Glen Osmond, Adelaide, to seize and catalogue items including cash and clothing as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of a six-month-old infant.

The deceased baby boy was discovered during a welfare check on October 10. It is understood the infant may have remained in the motel room for up to a month before being found.

Benjamin Nicholas Houghton, 40, and Yue Ning Lieu, 42, have been arrested and charged with criminal neglect and concealing human remains. The pair, who reportedly moved to South Australia from Queensland earlier this year, appeared in court and were remanded in custody until May without applying for bail.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens described the matter as a ‘very sensitive ongoing investigation’ and noted that a post-mortem examination has been completed.
