Ademar Cardoso granted semi-open regime in Amazonas
Ademar Farias Cardoso Neto, brother of the late Djidja Cardoso, has been granted a transition from closed to semi-open prison regime by the Amazonas judiciary. The decision, signed by Judge Sabrina Cumba Ferreira, follows a reduction of 364 days from his sentence due to his participation in work, study, and reading activities, as well as passing the 2025 National High School Exam (Enem).
Cardoso, who has been incarcerated since May 29, 2024, is serving a unified sentence of 10 years and 11 months for drug trafficking and association for trafficking. Under the new regime, he must adhere to several restrictions, including a mandatory curfew from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM on weekdays, staying home during weekends and holidays, and wearing an electronic ankle monitor. He is also prohibited from consuming alcohol, using illicit drugs, or carrying weapons.
The judge noted his constant engagement in resocialization activities and a medical report attesting to his self-control and aptitude for gradual reintegration into society.
