Aden residents prepare for renewed conflict as Houthi attacks escalate

Residents in the southern Yemeni city of Aden are preparing for potential widespread violence following a series of missile and explosion attacks. The Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah, has claimed responsibility for strikes targeting several key locations in Aden, including the international airport, military camps, the city port, and the presidential palace.

The escalation follows a major Houthi offensive launched in early September aimed at seizing government-held territories from the Saudi-backed National Resistance Forces (NRF). During this offensive, Houthi forces reportedly seized districts in the Hodeidah and Taiz provinces, including the port city of Mocha and the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait.

While a government counteroffensive in early October has achieved limited gains along the Red Sea coast, the Houthis have reportedly tightened their siege on Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city, by capturing a vital connecting road.
