Ghana fire service rescues four after Adenta two‑storey building collapse, one dead

A two‑storey apartment building in the Adenta New Site area of Ghana's Greater Accra Region collapsed during heavy evening rain on Wednesday. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 6:36 p.m. and deployed teams from its National Headquarters, aided by the Legon and Abelemkpe fire stations.

Five occupants were trapped: Margaret Kpeli, Fred Atagba, Solomon, and children Seyeram and David Dzigda. Four survivors – Fred Atagba, Solomon, Seyeram and David – were pulled out alive but injured and taken to the 37 Military Hospital. A dog also trapped in the debris was rescued. Margaret Kpeli was recovered unconscious and later confirmed dead. The rescue operation concluded at 10:54 p.m., with the GNFS praising local residents and cooperating agencies, while investigations into the cause of the collapse continue.
