ADEPA holds 64th General Assembly in Tucumán to discuss press freedom and AI

The 64th General Assembly of the Association of Argentine Journalistic Entities (ADEPA) is convening in San Miguel de Tucumán. The assembly focuses on defending press freedom and addressing the impact of artificial intelligence on the sustainability of the journalism industry.

Key activities include the presentation of ADEPA’s semi-annual report on freedom of expression in Argentina and discussions regarding technological transformations in newsrooms. The event features training sessions on digital strategies, leadership, and AI applications, with speakers from major organizations such as Clarín, La Nación, and the Google News Initiative.

In conjunction with the assembly, ADEPA, Google News Initiative, and Fathm Ltd. have launched the ‘AI Build Sprint’ program. This initiative aims to help media outlets in northwest Argentina develop functional AI prototypes. The program provides practical training on tools like Google Gemini and NotebookLM, covering topics such as data journalism, AI-assisted research, and ethical debates regarding authorship and transparency in news production.
