Adewale Isa Foundation hosts 7th annual tennis tournament in Lagos

The Adewale Isa Foundation has launched its 7th annual tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria. Held at the Mainland Tennis Club in Surulere, the week-long event runs from August 31 to September 5 and has drawn approximately 300 players.

Organized to honor the legacy of Adewale Isa, a former tennis coach and Nigeria’s first Olympic tennis coach, the tournament aims to promote sports development and nurture young talent. Nurudeen Isa, Director of the foundation, noted that the initiative has expanded to include educational scholarships for senior secondary students to encourage the balance of athletics and academics.

To address challenges regarding inadequate facilities and equipment, the foundation provides tennis gear to winners rather than cash prizes. The tournament also offers opportunities for winners in the under-12 categories to participate in training tours in the United States.
