Adewole Adebayo unveils 2027 economic and electoral plans
Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for 2027, has introduced a four-year economic plan titled ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’. The blueprint aims to transition Nigeria from an import-dependent economy to a production-driven nation by 2031 through import substitution, agricultural mechanization, and the establishment of regional industrial clusters in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, and automotive assembly. A key proposal includes creating a ‘Bank of Electricity’ to provide low-interest loans for power generation.
On the political front, Adebayo addressed the recent signing of the 2027 Electoral Peace Accord, emphasizing that genuine peace requires justice and strict adherence to the law. He criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not attending the ceremony, suggesting his absence sends a negative signal to the nation. Adebayo also called for increased independence for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and demanded political neutrality from the military, police, and other security agencies during the election cycle.
