Adhik Masik Shivratri 2026 observed on June 13 with special puja timings

Adhik Masik Shivratri, the monthly Shiva fast, falls on Saturday, 13 June 2026 during the extra lunar month known as Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas. This alignment occurs roughly once every three years and is considered especially auspicious, with devotees believing that worship on this day yields greater spiritual merit.

Key observances include a night‑long fast, chanting of Shiva mantras and midnight worship (Nishita Kaal) from around 12:01 am to 12:41 am on 14 June. Traditional puja rituals involve ablution of the Shiva lingam with water, milk, honey, curd, ghee and Ganga jal, offering of bel leaves, dhatura, white flowers, sandalwood paste, fruits and incense, followed by chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya" and other Shiva hymns.

Devotees may observe a nirjala (no‑food‑no‑water) fast, a fruit‑and‑milk fast, or a partial fast according to health. The believed benefits range from removal of negative influences and mental peace to prosperity, health and protection for the household.
