Adient closes Pueblo Esther plant and cuts 70 jobs

Adient Automotive Argentina SRL has announced the permanent closure of its manufacturing plant in Pueblo Esther, resulting in the dismissal of 70 employees. The facility was exclusively dedicated to manufacturing seats for the Chevrolet Tracker, which is assembled by General Motors in Alvear.

The company will transition to operating as a direct importer of seats, sourcing finished components from its active production lines in Brazil. This strategic shift is driven by financial profitability calculations, as importing parts has become more cost-effective than local manufacturing under current macroeconomic conditions.

The Smata union noted that the plant's structure has faced gradual reductions since 2019. At its peak, the facility employed 230 workers and also supplied Honda's HRV model in Campana.
