Adif plans renovation of Griñón station and new line to Illescas

Adif has launched a project to recover and renovate the Griñón railway station so it can be incorporated into the Cercanías commuter‑rail network. The work is part of a broader expansion that will link Humanes with Illescas in the province of Toledo. Current activities include building a new track at Illescas and drafting a project to electrify the existing line between Illescas and Humanes.

The next phase will remodel Griñón station and install a second electrified track along the Humanes‑Griñón‑Illescas corridor. Adif has issued a €2.6 million tender for the design phase, which precedes the construction contract. The station upgrade will feature a passenger building with lobby, two refurbished platforms with canopies, an underpass equipped with an elevator, a parking area and improved access. The new 9.4‑km track will be fully electrified and equipped with modern signalling and communication systems.
